Murmures (Whispers)
A Dance Score through the 4 seasons for a Magical Forest, and three performers
About Murmures (Whispers):
Take three square meters of forest—including the humus-rich soil, its roots, and its above-ground and underground inhabitants, whether real or imagined—and place it all on a theater stage. Observe it closely and intently for four seasons, day and night. Something is bound to happen…
Murmures will be the result of this observation—the kind that, through patience and discretion, allows the lives of plants, animals, and both visible and invisible beings to reveal themselves to the eye. It will be a matter of rediscovering the animals we hear, those we sense, those whose breath we feel; of letting supernatural beings emerge—those present beneath a rock, at the bottom of a stream, or in the heart of the fog…
“The forest, a welcoming land, is a hideout for bandits and healers, a refuge for hermits, and also a home for witches and outcasts. Between gentleness and violence, fascinating beauty and colossal ugliness, drab and colorful landscapes, the forest remains ever mysterious; it creates life and takes it away, just like water.”

On Dance and Space:
As elusive as prey, as slow as that which is camouflaged in the art of waiting, the dance will seek to appear and disappear, to traverse and blend into the landscape, through various identities and powers—a legacy of the world of Fairyland. The dance movement will ultimately combine with the manipulation of objects—carried by the performers—seeking to set in motion creatures that crawl, fly, or bounce.
