In the infinite dance of the cosmos, human beings once lived in harmony with the gods, guided by the song of the Uirapuru, the enchanted bird of Amazonian tradition. When the power of a king blinded by his own crown severs this sacred bond, the world is plunged into chaos.
Entrusted with a message from the gods, Uirapuru embarks on a journey across the planet in search of Tsuru, the legendary Japanese bird, a symbol of peace, longevity, and hope.
From their encounter, a new horizon emerges. East and West come together in a unified narrative where music, voice, performance costumes, animated forms, and visual theater merge to give birth to a unique sensory universe. Together, they invite the audience on a sensory journey through sounds, colors, and imaginations, celebrating what connects people across borders.
Duo TORI is a creative performance duo founded in Tokyo in 2025 by Brazilian director, soprano, and artist Nina Vogel and Japanese composer, cellist, and multi-instrumentalist Taichiro Omura. Dedicated to developing original works at the intersection of music, theater, and the visual arts, the duo explores—through a repertoire of original compositions and new theatrical creations—new forms of dialogue between sound, the body, matter, and image.

TORI (鳥) means “bird” in Japanese. The duo’s name echoes the Uirapuru of Amazonian tradition and the Tsuru of Japanese folklore—two mythical birds that inspire their poetic world and their dialogue between cultures.
